Vascular Surgery
Surgical and endovascular treatment of arterial and venous disease.
Vascular surgeons treat aortic aneurysms, peripheral artery disease, carotid disease, dialysis access, venous insufficiency, and vascular trauma. Mixes open surgery (aortic, lower extremity bypass, dialysis access) with endovascular interventions (EVAR, TEVAR, angioplasty / stenting). Increasingly endovascular, but open skill remains essential.
Lifestyle & practice
Resident hours 70 to 80. Attending 60 to 70 with significant call (acute aortic, ischemic limb). Compensation $450k to $600k.
